“On June 17th, 2020, our narcotics agents, CID investigators and troopers with the Georgia State Patrol, Manchester Post executed a search warrant in the 9000 block of Dallas Mill Road, Pine Mountain, Ga. The search warrant execution was conducted as a result of an undercover narcotics investigation related to the sale of marijuana. During the search warrant execution narcotic agents located and seized 652.0 GGMS of marijuana and drug related objects related to the packaging and sale of illegal narcotics. Our narcotic agents arrested Luther Parks III, B/M, 31 years of age, of Pine Mountain, Georgia. Parks was charged with the offenses of V.G.C.S.A. Sale of Marijuana and V.G.C.S.A. Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. Luther Parks III was transported to the Meriwether County Jail and was charged as stated. Parks had been out on bond from the Meriwether County Jail related to a previous arrest for a similar incident. Parks is being held without bond related to this incident.
On June 18th, 2020, at 4:10 pm., our narcotics agents observed Michael Chase Moore W/M, 21 years of age, of Greenville, Ga. sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox at the local business in Gay, Georgia. Agents were familiar with Moore due to work related knowledge and were aware that Moore’s Georgia driver license was suspended. Agents had verified that he license was still in a suspended status. They had direct contact with Moore advising him of such and to not to be operating the motor vehicle on the roadway. Within a short period of time our agents observed Moore get in the driver seat of the vehicle at a second area business in Gay. Moore then drove the vehicle onto the roadway. At that time Meriwether County Deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle with all emergency equipment activated. Moore accelerated the vehicle refusing to stop. Our narcotic agents observed items being thrown out the window of the vehicle. One of our deputies attempted to deploy spike sticks in an attempt to disable the vehicle and end the pursuit. Moore took evasive maneuvers to avoid the spike sticks almost striking the deploying deputy with his vehicle. Moore continued on Griffin Hwy (Hwy 362) toward Pike County. Pike County Deputies took the primary lead in the pursuit once our personnel had crossed over the county line. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office personnel were able to successfully perform a PIT maneuver in a field off of Strickland Road, Concord, Ga. area. Moore fled from the location on foot after climbing out of the sunroof of the vehicle. Meriwether County and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office deployed their K-9’s which led deputies on a long track, however Moore was able to evade capture. Spaulding County Sheriff’s Office also responded with their helicopter for an aerial search. Around 12:28 am. Pike County deputies along with Meriwether County received a phone call through Pike County E-911 stating Moore was observed a gas station in Concord, Ga. Our personnel along with Pike County Deputies were able to locate Moore hiding in a thick wooded area in the 2000 block of Green Street, Concord, Ga. Moore was transported to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office where he is held without bond on multiple traffic charges in their jurisdiction. Upon his release, Moore will be transported to the Meriwether County Jail on our warrants for the charges of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Felony Fleeing attempting to Elude Police, Reckless Driving and Driving on a Suspended License.” Sheriff Smith said.
“I greatly appreciate the assistance of all the agencies involved in these incidents. Working together collaboratively we were successful in these case investigations with these arrest being made.” Sheriff Smith stated.
