Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reported that his agency recently assisted the Pike County Sheriff’s Office with a bank robbery investigation that occurred in September 2020 in Concord, Ga.
“On September 18, 2020, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office began conducting an investigation into a reported bank robbery that occurred in their jurisdiction in Concord, Ga. Our agency along with surrounding jurisdictions received the BOLO information pertaining to the suspect description.
On October 27, 2020 our agency booked into the Meriwether County Jail a Howatdrick Jamal Jones, B/M, 28 years of age, of Woodbury, Ga. in reference to an outstanding Violation of Probation warrant. During this time while Jones was in our custody our criminal investigators and narcotics units began receiving information through their confidential sources that Jones was possibly involved in the bank robbery that occurred in Pike County, Ga. Our investigators provided all the relevant and received information onto the Pike County Investigators. We also provided Pike County with a set of case prints on Jones related to his most recent arrest in our jurisdiction. Through the course of the investigation Pike County was able to recover some physical evidence that linked Jones to the bank robbery that occurred in that jurisdiction and possibly other similar related offenses. Through this collaborative investigation between agencies Pike County Investigators were able to secure an arrest warrant in regard to their bank robbery investigation. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office picked up Jones from the Meriwether County Jail on November 24, 2020 for transport to their jail on their charges.” Sheriff Chuck Smith said.
“I appreciate the work that our personnel have put forth to assist in this case investigation. Working collaboratively both agencies were able to serve the common good of both our communities.” Sheriff Smith advised.
